On Sunday, 6 April, the Sunday of Saint Mary of Egpyt, His Eminence Archbishop Sergios visited the private Chapel of Saint Mary of Egypt in Robertson where he celebrated the Divine Liturgy together with Father Zacharias.
After the Liturgy there was an Akathist to Saint Mary of Egypt, the patron saint of the Church. In his address, His Eminence spoke about the importance of Saint Mary of Egypt’s example. She was a great sinner, but she did not despair of her salvation and persevered in her repentance until the end of her life. She shows us that it is indeed possible for a sinner to become a saint and challenges us to persevere in our Christian life.
After the service, Archbishop Sergios and everyone present were invited to a lunch generously hosted by the Joannou family where His Eminence was able to spend time with the faithful.
